Residence permit for students of the RWTH and FH Aachen

The branch office of the immigration authority at RWTH Aachen has already been installed on March 15th 2005. After 10 years of successful and trustful cooperation between the immigration office and the International Office of RWTH Aachen a new cooperation agreement between StädteRegion Aachen and RWTH Aachen was concluded.
The immigration branch office is responsible for all foreign students and research staff of RWTH Aachen as well as their family members.
The three employees of the immigration branch office ensure an immediate face-to-face customer service and deal with a multitude of immigration law matters, such as issuing and extending residence permits for studying, for job search after successful completed studies and for qualified employment. Furthermore highly qualified graduates or researchers of RWTH with a minimum annual income of € 38.688,00 can be issued a Blue Card EU.
Basic requirements for issuing or extending a residence permit are proof of funding and sufficient health insurance. Generally as students proof of funding a scholarship, a blocked account or a Declaration of Commitment in line with § 68 AufenthG is accepted.
Since April 20th 2015 a separate information center has been installed on 3rd floor of the administration building, Hackländerstr. 1, 52064 Aachen (near central station), for all students of FH Aachen and research staff of FH Aachen and Forschungszentrum Jülich as well as their family members.
